The Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant (PRC) is part of Ontario's Strategy for Alzheimer Disease and Related Dementias (Initiative #8). SJCG is sponsoring 1 of 50 positions across the province. The goal of the PRC is help further develop skills and knowledge needed to enhance care delivery to older adults who exhibit challenging behaviours due to cognitive/ mental health needs.
The Thunder Bay & District Dementia Network is an initiative of the Alzheimer Strategy of Ontario. The network goal is to connect people to people, people to knowledge, and to resources. The Network is a vehicle to promote an informed society and foster supportive care to persons who are moving through the progression of Alzheimer Disease and related Dementias.
The Alzheimer Strategy is the home of PIECES Training and U-First staff education initiatives.
The role of the Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant is threefold:
- To provide consultative support for frontline staff in long term care facilities and community agencies in the District of Thunder Bay.
- To provide support for local agency network development within the District of Thunder Bay, building on existing resources.
- To provide education and training to community agencies and LTC staff in the District of Thunder Bay.
