Research
The Research Department is a vibrant and multi-faceted department. We undertake research and evaluation in the areas of complex care, rehabilitation, long-term care, supportive housing, addictions and mental health that will support individuals living in northwestern Ontario. Our research originates from clinicians and staff within St. Joseph’s Care Group and from external healthcare and academic partners who are researching in key areas linked to our own goal and objectives.
All research undertaken with St. Joseph’s Care Group must have Ethics approval. The Research Department facilitates the Board Ethics Committee (BEC) process for SJCG by ensuring that researchers wishing to undertake research within, or on behalf of the Care Group have a copy of the Research Guidelines. We are able to provide guidance on completing the Ethics Protocol and are available to answer any questions that arise in the process of submitting your ethics submission. For more information follow the Research and Ethics link on this page.
The new Ontario Mental Health Reporting System (OMHRS) is being at implemented St. Joseph’s Care Group, Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital as it is across the province of Ontario. As such, administration and training on the Resident Assessment Instrument – Mental Health (RAI-MH) will be facilitated through the Research Department.
