The Dementia Care Program is committed to providing quality care in a therapeutic and safe inpatient milieu to seniors that experience severe behaviours associated with dementia. Care is provided in a caring and compassionate manner respecting client privacy and confidentiality.

The Dementia Care Program provides comprehensive individualized care. Care is focused on the assessment, treatment, and stabilization of each client's medical, cognitive, and behavioral concerns.
Who is the Dementia Care Program for?
Individuals 65 years and over whom display severe behavioural issues related to a dementia. Referrals related to individuals less than 65 years of age are reviewed on a case by case basis for program eligibility.
Who are the care providers on the Dementia Care Program?
Clients admitted to the Dementia Care Program are cared for by a team of knowledgeable and experienced health care professionals that specialize in the areas of medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, social work, psychology, and leisure life skills.
Can families take part in their loved ones care and treatment planning?
With appropriate consent, the Dementia Care Program welcomes families to be involved in the care of their loved one. Families are invited to attend weekly client case conferences to discuss care and treatment planning.
How do I access the inpatient Dementia Care Program for my loved one?
Referrals to the program are initiated by physicians and nurse practitioners and are directed to the Dementia Care Program Physician and or Clinical Supervisor. Referrals from Thunder Bay and surrounding areas are welcome.
