General Rehabilitation
Orthopaedic Rehabilitation is a coordinated, interprofessional, goal-orientated and time limited program focusing on assessment, individual treatment, education and therapy for clients who have a musculoskeletal, orthopedic disorders or amputation of a limb.
General Rehabilitation enables clients who have developed significant functional limitations as a result of musculoskeletal and/or orthopedic disorders to improve physical and functional skills required to integrate back into their community. Location: Third Floor South - 25 beds

Admission Criteria
General
- Orthopaedic conditions such as post operative hip and knee replacements, traumatic fractures and post spinal surgeries
- Amputation of limb - single or double amputation to upper or lower extremity
Specific
- Client/family is able to follow through with an independent exercise program
- Referrals must be made by an Orthopaedic surgeon
Approach
- Progressive client-centered goals
- Interdisciplinary approach with active participation of the client and/or family/caregiver
- Continuum with community services as needed

Goals
- To improve independence and mobility to be able to manage at home
- To increase ability to return to home, work and leisure activities
- To return to community life as quickly as possible using the resources that are available in the client’s community
Discharge Criteria
- Client goals are accomplished or addressed
- Medical instability
- Clients unable to comply with legislated regulations and hospital policy
- Clients able to access outpatient services or follow home program
