Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes in Adults

Nutrition Information
Nutrition Information

Our diabetes education program focuses on self management. We individualize the education plan based on the needs of the client. These needs are determined after a complete assessment by a Registered Nurse and Registered Dietitian.

Adults with Type 1 diabetes control their blood sugars with insulin. Some may take insulin injections and others may use an insulin pump. Our teams assist these clients with intensive diabetes management. We are a designated Assistive Devices Program (ADP), registered for the provision of insulin infusion pump training in Northwestern Ontario.

Healthy eating and regular physical activity are crucial diabetes management tools. Adults with Type 2 diabetes may manage their blood sugars with medication and/or insulin. Our teams assist these clients to optimize their lifestyle changes. We work as part of the client's health care team along with the physician to assess current treatment options available.
