Pediatrics

Diabetes Health Thunder Bay is the Pediatric Diabetes program for most of Northwestern Ontario. We provide Diabetes education services for over 150 children and their families. Diabetes Health has a thriving insulin infusion pump program for children and teens with diabetes.

Appointments are structured based on the child or youths needs:

• individual clinic appointments at our main clinic
• telephone follow up to decrease children's time away from school
• pediatricians' diabetes clinics at our office or combined appointments at pediatricians offices
• Ontario Telemedicine Network resources for families traveling from afar

We also host an annual clinic with a pediatric specialist from a larger center.

In addition to the above, we provide regular educational and social events for the children including support groups (ex. craft night twice a month).

We network with other agencies such as CCAC (Community Care Access Centre), home care and schools. We provide education to staff of schools where our children attend.
