The Behavioural Sciences Centre (BSC) carries a well-established reputation throughout Northwestern Ontario as a provider of high quality EAP/EFAP services. As this region's largest EAP provider, we implement a broad range of confidential, professional, and comprehensive counselling, training, and consultation services to more than 80 worksites between Manitouwadge and Kenora.
BSC recognizes that no single professional has the expertise to deal with all of the problems and wellness issues presented by persons who access EAP services. As such, we have assembled a team of experts employed by the Care Group, supplemented by professionals in the community. This enables us to provide timely services 'under one roof' while also extending consultation, training and group programs to the worksite.
Confidential counselling services are available for personal concerns and problems related to:
- Relationship Issues
- Personal and Job Stress
- Emotional Difficulties
- Parenting
- Eldercare
|
- Health Concerns
- Chemical Dependency
- Critical Incident Stress
- Conflicts at Work
- Credit/Financial Problems
- Human Resources Management

Crisis Intervention:
 Session |
Recognizing that a crisis can occur unpredictably, BSC offers a 24-hour hotline service that makes an EAP counsellor available at all times. Eligible EAP clients and significant others residing with them can call the BSC offices at any time to receive assistance. Clients residing outside of Thunder Bay can call our offices collect, and need not leave any identifying information apart from a return telephone number.
Critical Incident Response:
Ideally, persons having experienced a traumatic incident should receive individual and/or group critical incident stress debriefing within 72 hours post-incident. Our counsellors have undergone specific training in critical incident response and are experienced in helping those suffering from post-traumatic stress. The BSC critical incident response team has been deployed numerous times over the past twelve years in response to workplace injuries, fatalities, and various tragic events.
| BSC has made a committment to providing professional employee assistance services throughout Northwestern Ontario. Our client corporations include pulp and paper operations, mines, school boards, municipal, provincial, and federal government offices, and a variety of agencies to mention a few. Master's degree counsellors visit several communities monthly, extending confidential individual and group services to eligible employees and their significant others on a regular basis. |
