Main Office
The focus of this section of the Research Department is to support the required administration to promote research activities within SJCG. To this end, the Office of Research Services reviews the Policies and Procedures for research to enable a researcher-friendly environment within SJCG. The Office coordinates the grant/contracts submissions, the Research Ethics Board (REB) and Research Agreements for the organization.
It is the policy of SJCG to have a Research Ethics Board (REB) to review and approve all research projects involving human subjects (both clients and staff), their materials, and their individual information. The REB ensures all health research being conducted within or on behalf of SJCG meets the ethical standards set forth by the Canadian national standards as outlined in the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS).
All research agreements (grants and/or contracts) for which SJCG is financially accountable must be signed by the President/CEO of SJCG. The original contract is to be forwarded to the Office of Research Services for review and recommendation of signature.
Before any research activities may begin, all research involving clients, staff, their materials and/or their records must have SJCG REB approval, and if applicable, a signed research agreement in place.
