Main Office
The Research Ethics Board (REB) of St. Joseph's Care Group (SJCG) functions to ensure that all research involving human subjects at SJCG meets the highest ethical standards prior to study initiation in accordance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS): Guidelines on Research Involving Human Subjects and other relevant national and international regulations.
The primary responsibility of the Research Ethics Board is to conduct the ethical assessment of all research proposed to SJCG, researchers having an association with SJCG and any research involving clients, clients' health records, staff or programs of SJCG.
The REB will endeavour to safeguard the rights, safety and well-being of research participants by upholding the following principles
- Respect for human dignity,
- Respect for free and informed consent,
- Respect for vulnerable persons,
- Respect for privacy and confidentiality,
- Respect for justice and inclusiveness,
- Balancing harms and benefits.
